Here’s an op-ed piece in the New York Times on why powerful people become obnoxious.  UCLA apparently did a ‘Cookie Monster’ experiment which showed that “getting power causes people to focus so keenly on the potential rewards, like money, sex, public acclaim or an extra chocolate-chip cookie — not necessarily in that order, or frankly, any order at all, but preferably all at once — that they become oblivious to the people around them.”

So here’s scientific proof why we shouldn’t indulge requests for million dollar salary raises, especially when the Straits Times is reporting how there are destitute old people surviving on soy sauce and rice!
